Pulenta Estate Malbec I
Pulenta Estate Malbec I
This is still probably the best Malbec that Simon has ever tasted - certainly for this price-point. Many times its been put head-to-head with a competitor and left the challenger flailing in its wake. As such, we were absolutely delighted when the winery changed their distributor in the UK, meaning we could get our hands on it!
Bold and rich, this has all the typical hallmarks of Malbec - crowd-pleasing dark bramble fruits with top-notes of cherry and soft spice in a wine with a rich mouthfeel. This is then stepped up a notch (or three) with some much more nuanced notes, with hints of crushed violet on the nose and a velvty array of tannins, all tied together by the excellent use of French oak, imparting subtle spice and tobacco notes whilst emphasising the velvety mouthfeel.
