NOAH Costa della Sesia Rossonoah
NOAH Costa della Sesia Rossonoah
Grapes for this wine are grown in Monte vineyard in Lessona and also in Brusnengo, from the "Mesola" area, which has an altitude 350 - 400 meters above sea level. The 'Rossonoah' is made up of 50% young Nebbiolo vines, 40% old Croatina vines and 10% Vespolina. The Nebbiolo undergoes a short, five day, maceration to avoid too much tannin extraction. Alchoholic fermentation in stainless steel and is followed by a malolactic fermentation. Aging for a further 6 months in stainless steel.
As an avowed lover of Barolo and Barbaresco, the wines of Costa della Sesia are manor from heaven - the Nebbiolo is still the star of the show, with crushed violet, cranberry and cherry notes with hints of leather. But the healthy doses of Croatina and Vespolina soften the tannins and fill out the juicy fruit. This is a wonderfully balanced wine giving a glimpse into the world of Nebbiolo without breaking the bank (or, indeed, having to cellar it).
