Ch Moulin-a-Vent 'La Rochelle'
A complex bouquet of raspberries, flowers and spice alongside hints of smoke and liqourice. The palate opens with concentrated notes of bright cherry, raspberry and violets with mineral undertones. Elegant with fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity and an impressive long finish.
Arguably the top single vineyard in Moulin-ˆ-Vent, sitting at 280 metres altitude, with vines over 80 years old. The wines the vineyard produces are intensely concentrated, and benefit from the time in bottle to allow the complex wine to open up and blossom. 25% whole clusters are used, and the wine is then aged for 12 months in 228 and 350 litre French oak barrels (no new). The wine is concentrated, intense and complex. Notes of dark cherry, mulberry, violet, mocha and flint. A medium bodied palate, with silky tannins, juicy acidity with a hint of orange peel and smoke and spice on the long finish.
