Massolino Dolcetto d'Alba
A wondeful fresh, fruity and elegant Dolcetto from Massolino, based in Serralunga - arguably the most prestigious wine village in Italy! The palate opens to a multitude of flavours of red cherries and berries. The concentration of flavours is balanced by the refreshing acidity that are evident on the long persistent finish.
A low yielding, early ripening variety, Dolcetto thrives in the Langhe, where it complements Nebbiolo in the vineyard. Vineyards would be filled with the intense red colour of Dolcetto's autumnal leaves in October, a view that is now much less common, as Dolcetto has been uprooted in many spots in favour of today's more popular Nebbiolo. Massolino is one of the few producers to grow Dolcetto in his vineyards in Serralunga.
