Gulfi Cerasuolo di Vittoria
This is a wonderfully expressive and approachable wine from Gulfi, a Sicilian producer embodying the whole 'slow food/slow wine' movement which has been central to Italian culture for many years.
A blend of Nero d'Avola and Frappato - two grape varietals indiginous to Sicily - grown at altitude in three specially chosen vineyards. This wine embodies both the vibrancy and intensity of both grapes. Red fruits and crushed floral notes on the nose lead to cherry and black currant fruits which are predominant on the palate, but they are wonderfully balanced with hints of natural, fruity spices and a touch of structure. Surprisingly serious, but still elegant and eminently drinkable. Perfect option with white meats and pork
