Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Latricieres-Chambertin Grand Cru 2014
There are few names which set wine-lovers' hearts aflutter quite like 'Gevrey-Chambertin' - but no ordinary Gevrey-Chambertin is this, coming exclusively from the Grand Cru vineyard, Latricieres-Chambertin. The entirety of this vineyard is a mere 7.05ha, of which Domaine Drouhin-Laroze own just 0.67ha. But boy-oh-boy, what wines these vines produce... This 2014 is a fine example, and a real stand-out wine in anyone's collection - showing the leaps and bounds of progress which Domaine Drouhin-Laroze have achieved since upping the ante at the turn of the century.

"Intense aromas of cherry, earth, mineral and spice mark this youthful red. The cherry core continues through the lingering finish, while the structure builds and elements of oak, earth and mineral add interest. Burly in the end." 94pts, Wine Spectator (reviewed 2017)
"The 2014 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has an attractive nose: more vibrant and nuanced than the Chapelle-Chambertin with more mineralité filtering through those lifted black and red fruit. The palate is crisp and tensile with fine tannin, juicy black fruit with just a touch of citrus lemon towards the finish. Yes, there is a bit of new oak to be assimilated (60%) but once it does, this will be a very fine Latricières that exudes class and a nascent sense of energy." 92-94pts, Wine Advocate (reviewed 2015)
