November Case of the Month
Our November Case of the Month contains:
Ronchi di Cialla Ribolla Gialla (Friuli, Italy)
Clear pale yellow color with green reflections. It smells fresh and lively; its bouquet is elegant, with bread crust fragrances, apple and pear fruity note with a floral and mineral back-taste. On the palate it is extremely fresh and has typicality exalted by a perfect balance of acidity and minerality. The aftertaste is consistent, fresh and savory. Well balanced and goes down well. Ronchi di Cialla's vineyard practices are entirely natural and organic, having gone to such lenghts that the World Biodiversity Association granted them 'biodiversity friendly' certification.
Maison Galuval 'Le Coq Volant' Cotes du Rhône Villages Blanc (Rhone Valley, France)
The emblem of the Domaine de Galuval the Rooster, spins around as the weathervane is battered by the wind. The Mistral and the benefit it brings are what help our vineyards to prosper ventilating the vines, keeping the grapes healthy and chasing away the clouds to allow them to reach perfect maturity. The Coq Volant White takes its inspiration from this wind and offers a fresh soaring profile as a tribute. A quartet of local grapes, white Grenache, Viognier, Roussanne and Clairette have given birth to this wine. Golden yellow with greenish highlights. A complex nose of white flowers, honeysuckle and lime blossom. In the mouth it is elegant and diaphanous, with lovely smoothness of the first palate bright fruit and persistent freshness. A delicacy of expression that is rare for the region.
Folc Rosé (Kent & Suffolk, England)
A superb example of modern rosé from the south coast of England. Very much made in the Provençal style, Folc has a light and bright profile, with gentle red berry fruits and a light citrus lift on the finish. Easy going, easy drinking and dry, it's everything you ever wanted from a rosé this summer!
Merul Mavrud (Thracian Lowlands, Bulgaria)
Spicy, earthy, blackberry and elderberry aromas with soft leather notes on a grippy, damson fruit style. A fascinating and enticing wine produced using the ancient Bulgarian varietal, Mavrud.
Larry Cherubino Pedestal Cabernet Sauvignon (Margaret River, Australia)
Showcasing what the Margaret River does so well, this deep, inky purple wine shows intense classic Cabernet aromas of blackcurrant. Ample blackcurrant and bay are layered with hints of cedar and chocolate on the palate. Medium bodied. Velvety tannins and a long smooth finish.
M. Ventenac Coup de Sang (Languedoc, France)
A lovely wine which displays the character of both Cabernets. Sauvignon brings deeply fruited notes, full of blackcurrant and hints of chocolate, whilst the Franc adds a hint of freshness with savoury spice and green bell pepper. Nicely structured, but typically approachable for a Languedoc wine.
