A fine example of a Gueuze from a wonderful family-brewery in Belgium. Gueuze is very much the wine of the beer world, and Champagne at that! Blended from lambics which have been aged in foeders (large wooden barrels), these beers have a complex flavour profile, balancing malt sweetness and crisp sourness, supported by spice, mellow earthiness and hints of citrus peel. The beer then undergoes a secondary fermentation (like Champagne) to produce a bottle of effervescent joy which improves with bottle ageing!
