MAGNUM Chateau Tour de Grenet Lussac Saint-Emilion
Chateau Tour de Grenet produces an attractive, full-bodied and keenly priced red Bordeaux. From the Lussac satellite of Saint-Emilion, the high elevation and clay-limestone soils are perfect for the Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon vines the family tend. With an average vine-age of over 30 years, the winemakers are able to create a wine of exceptional depth and intensity all within an extremely elegant wine for the money.
The fruit lends itself to fermentation in concrete barrels before being run-off and aged for up to 18 months in oak vats and barrels. The combination of larger vats and smaller barrels helps to develop a luscious and velvety mouthfeel, whilst not overpowering the wine with oak flavours. Don't worry though, those classic oak notes are still there (with lovely cedar and spice flavours intermingly in perfect harmony with the heady dark fruits).
Whilst this wine is not necessarily one for extended ageing, it will certainly develop wonderfully for up to 10 years, and in the case of the sensational 2015 vintage, probably even longer!
