Echeverria 'No es Pituko' Cabernet Franc
With an intense, vibrant cherry colour, the slightly cloudy appearance is due to the natural vinification. Lively aromas of black cherry and fresh plum lead to a fresh palate with silky tannins and a luscious floral note on the finish.
This is an exciting wine, named 'No es Pituko' from the Chilean slang for 'it ain't fancy'. From pre-phyloxerra, ungrafted rootstocks, the wine is vinified naturally, without any additions at any stage. The vineyards experience intense sunlight during the long summers, developing a great depth of flavour. The altitude and resultant cold nights, ensure that plenty of freshness remains.
The grapes were handharvested and brought to the winery in 18 kilogram boxes to preserve the quality. They were destemmed, pressed and cooled at 8°C, before being fermented with wild yeasts from the environment. No oak was used at any stage of the production, allowing for the full character of the fruit and yeasts to shine through.
