Chateau Maledan Rouge
A wondeful Bordeaux Superieur from a family owned winery in Saint Emilion. Whilst the fruit comes from the Entre-deux-Mers region of Bordeaux, the family's roots in the considerably more prestigious appellation shines through. This Merlot dominated wine has lovely plum aromas which pull through onto a palate full of dark fruit, hints of cassis and fine, soft tannins, whilst the dash of Cabernet Franc brings some classic claret pencil shavings into the mix. For the price, it would be quite a challenge to find a better quality Bordeaux. Approachable and nicely balanced, this can be drunk immediately. So good, in-fact, that we are working with the Brunot family on the first ever 'Phoenix Selection' house wine (move over Good Ordinary Claret...).
